What went in

Who you are reaching out to, and why
Operations managers at UK food manufacturers with 50 to 300 staff. Reaching out to Karen Whitlock at Pennine Foods, who posted on LinkedIn last month about spending three days a month building compliance paperwork by hand for BRC audits.
What you offer
We build audit documentation software for food manufacturers. It pulls from your existing production records so the paperwork assembles itself. Customers typically go from days to a couple of hours per audit cycle. We are small, about 30 customers.

Three days a month on BRC paperwork is three days not spent on the floor. That post you put up last month stuck with me, mostly because it's the exact problem we built our software to kill. It pulls straight from your existing production records and assembles the documentation for you, so most of our customers are down to a couple of hours per audit cycle instead of days. We're a small outfit, about 30 customers, mostly northern manufacturers like Pennine. Worth a quick look at how it'd fit your setup?

Alternative openings

  • More direct: Saw your post about losing three days a month to BRC paperwork, and I think we can get that down to a couple of hours.
  • More casual: Three days a month hand-building compliance paperwork sounds like a special kind of miserable, and I saw you mentioned it on LinkedIn last month.

When to use it

Use this for a first approach to someone who has no idea who you are. It works from a specific reason for contacting this person rather than a template with their name merged in, which is the only thing that separates outreach from spam. Give it something real you noticed and it uses that as the opening.

Common questions

What makes cold outreach not feel like spam?
One specific, true observation about them that could not appear in anyone else's inbox. Not their industry or their job title, which merge fields can fake, but something they said or did. The example above opens on a post the recipient actually wrote, and that is the whole difference.
What if I have no specific reason to contact them?
Then find one before sending, because no amount of rewriting fixes a message that could go to a thousand people. Two minutes on their site or their feed is usually enough. If you genuinely cannot find anything, they are probably the wrong prospect.
How long should a cold message be?
Short enough to read on a phone in one go, which in practice means under 120 words for email and shorter again for a DM. The goal is a reply, not a decision, so anything explaining your full offer is working against you.
Is it free?
You can run it three times a day with no account. Signing in gives you renewing monthly credits, and this tool costs one credit per run with the one-click refinements included.
