When to use it
Use this when someone has gone quiet and you need to nudge without souring things. It assumes good faith, which is almost always correct, and gives the person an easy way back in rather than making them explain the silence.
Common questions
How long should I wait before chasing?
Depends what you asked for. A quick question, three or four working days. A quote or a decision involving other people, a week to ten days. Tell it how long it has been and the message is pitched accordingly, because a nudge that arrives too early reads as impatience.
How many times can I follow up?
Two or three, spaced out, then change the message rather than repeating it. A final note that gracefully closes the loop, saying you will assume the timing is not right, often gets a reply when a fourth chase would not.
Will it sound passive aggressive?
