How to write a LinkedIn headline and About section that work

June 21, 2026 · 4 min read

Your headline and About section are the two things people read before they decide you are worth their time. Most are a job title and a wall of buzzwords. A good one says, in plain words, what you do and who you help.

The headline: who you help, and how

Your job title alone is a label, not a reason to connect. Lead with the outcome you create. A simple shape that works: “I help [who] do [what], [how or proof].”

Instead of: “Senior Marketing Manager” Try: “I help B2B software teams turn blogs into pipeline. Ex-HubSpot.”

The About section: first person, value first
